10 April, 2014Under the pressure of the international community two out of seven imprisoned workers were released. Three, including the only woman, Roza Tuletaeva, were alleviated of their conditions of imprisonment. They were transferred to the colony-settlement. However two people, Shabdan Utkilov and Kanat Zhusipbaev so far remain in jail.

Korean union leader Kim Jungwoo is free

7 April, 2014Thanks to the international campaign launched by Amnesty International and supported by Global Unions including ITUC and IndustriALL the Korean trade union leader and human rights defender Kim Jungwoo was released from jail on 1 April 2014. Other 14 leaders condemned in the same case remain imprisoned.

Support Amnesty International campaign for jailed Korean trade union leader

18 March, 2014Korean trade union leader and human rights defender Kim Jungwoo risks receiving a further prison sentence at an appeal hearing on 4 April. In jail since June 2013 for protesting in support of dismissed workers and their families, fears are mounting that he will be given a heavier sentence by Seoul High Court as part of a continued crackdown on trade unionists.

Encarcelado desde junio de 2013 por participar en una manifestación de apoyo a los trabajadores despedidos y sus familias, ahora crece el temor de que el Tribunal Superior de Seúl dé una pena mayor, como parte de la constante política de persecución contra los sindicalistas.
