IndustriALL Global Union supports Cambodian workers at ExCo in Phnom Penh

10 December, 2015Around 200 delegates from IndustriALL Global Union met in Phnom Penh on 9 - 10 December for the Executive Committee. The meeting was held in Cambodia as a show of support for the country’s 600,000 garment workers.

10 December, 2015Environ 200 délégué(e)s de IndustriALL Global Union se sont réunis à Phnom Penh, les 9 et 10 décembre, pour la tenue du Comité exécutif. La réunion a eu lieu au Cambodge pour montrer son soutien aux 600.000 travailleuses et travailleurs de la confection de ce pays.

The garment industry employs 600,000 workers in Cambodia. As part of its global action towards living wages in the sector, IndustriALL is working with its eight Cambodian affiliates to push for higher wages.

8 December, 2015El Comité Ejecutivo de IndustriALL Global Union se reunirá en Phnom Penh del 9 al 10 de diciembre, con la asistencia de unos 200 delegados y delegadas  Entre los temas que se tratarán, se destacan los siguientes: las luchas sindicales en todo el mundo, salarios dignos, negociación colectiva y una declaración de apoyo a los trabajadores y trabajadoras de Camboya. Unos 600.000 trabajadores y trabajadoras laboran en la industria de la confección en Camboya. Como parte de su campaña mundial en favor de salarios dignos en ese sector, IndustriALL está trabajando con los ocho sindicatos afiliados de Camboya, con el fin de presionar por un aumento salarial.

1 December, 2015Around 50 women leaders from IndustriALL Global Union affiliates in Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines met in November to strengthen women and gender structures at all levels of national and local unions, and to improve maternal protection in each country. There is a high number of women workers in all of the countries, especially in the textile, garment, shoe and leather, and electronics industries.

Cambodian unions consider strike action

9 October, 2015Independent garment unions in Cambodia will meet on 12 October to consider strike action after being let down by minimum wage negotiations which settled on US$140 a month for 2016.
